From Kharagpur Junction, IIT Kharagpur is only 15-20 minutes by auto, e-rickshaw, or taxi. Autos are readily available outside the station.

Government and private buses are available from Esplanade Bus Terminus and Howrah Bus Stand to Kharagpur. From Kharagpur bus stand, local transport can be used to reach the IIT campus.
Airport: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport
Take a prepaid taxi or an app-based cab to Howrah/Santragachi Station (≈approximately 45–60 minutes), then continue by train to Kharagpur.
A direct cab to IIT Kharagpur is possible, but it takes ~4–5 hours and is more expensive.
The IIT Kharagpur campus is one of the largest academic campuses in Asia, with clear signboards and easy internal transport. Conference venues and hostels are well-connected within the campus.
